When I do my cookies, I use a stiffer RI to outline and if the cookies are all the same, I do the outlines first, then thin out my icing with some water and flood the cookie. I tend to err on the side of simplicity so I tend to flood most of the cookie.

You usually do the outline first so when you flood the cookie the outline will hold it..

sorry for the hijack...

My royal icing tastes terrible. I use the wilton recipe and I was hoping that some of you could share your recipe or make some suggestions as to how to make the royal icing taste better.

Thanks,
Kim
