Hello, I am making a frosting made with butter for the first time. ( The cake doctors chocolate syrup icing). My question is do I have to refrigerate the cake after it's frosted because it has butter in it, as opposed to shortening.
no, buttercream icing can be left out covered for up to 2 weeks. You will be fine to leave it out covered. If it is only butter and you refridgerate it you will not be able to spread it as it will harden up on you like a stick of butter. HTH
