I'm Making a French Vanilla 8" round Cake for a friend of Mine's BF and she doesn't know (It's a Surprise ) .

I would like to know what filling would pair up well with the Flavour of the Cake . I know that she likes the custard fillings and her BF is a whatever kind of Guy.

Any suggestions

Bavarian cream, any kind of curd, BC mixed with fruit, ganache....
French vanilla seems to pair well with almost anything.

One of my favorites is choc cake w/ raspberry perserves and chocolate mousse filling.
