Can I use an impression mat on buttercream? If so how - do I have to let the cake sit in the refrigerator til the icing is really crusty?
I have used then on buttercream before and it comes out great! I just waited maybe 1/2 hour to an hour after I smoothed it and then put the mat on the sides. You may have to wipe the mat off if it starts to get a little sticky, but I did a 12 in cake and only wiped it off maybe once or twice.
