I guess this is really related to decorating-
I am making a Panda birthday cake. Want to use coconut flakes for the fur. Is there anyway I can make them black? Is painting the only way? Thank you

put them in a ziploc and add black food coloring a little at a time and shake the living daylights out of it. Just add more little by little till you get what you want.

When I was a kid we did this to make grass for easter cakes.

Thank you. Finally found black food coloring. Didn't want to go with black frosting that was suggested by a local cake supply firm, just donât think that would look like fur. And didn't want to buy a paint sprayer.

I imagine doing a bunch of small batches would be the best way to go, third of a bag or less at a time?

This guy is going to be a challenge. 8 to 9 hours to complete. That's if birthday girl doesn't decide to leave work early. This will be the first attempt at a three dimensional design. Darn you foodtv.

Thanks again. J
