I was asked to do a cake by my mother's coworker. It's her parent's anniversary. This is going to be a pretty big project. It needs to serve approximately 150 people. I'm not exactly in business making cakes yet. People have given me money for sheet cakes that I've done for them, but I've always felt funny accepting money from friends (because I'm not really in business). So I'm kind of at a loss as to what I should accept for payment. I guess my question is...how much do you think is an acceptable amount of money to receive from this woman for this cake? The cake is probably going to be tiered (if that helps). Thanks everyone!! icon_biggrin.gif

Well she needs it to feed 150, but is there a design in mind? No less than $300 for a basic cake.. I'd charge $675.00 done in buttercream and add $150 for fondant for 150 servings. If it's detailed with sugar flowers or something it'd be much more.
