How Can I Make Red Frosting?

My Aunt wants me to make a Rebel Flag cake but My red always turns out pink !! What can I use to make it Red? I use wilton paste for coloring.

Start by coloring icing a deep pink. Then add red color. You will get a deeper red this way. Also color seems to deepen with time. I make my icing at least the day before I need it. That way the color has time to develop.

Starting w/a pink base will allow you to use less of the red gel color. Also if you use Americolor gels you will get a better red. It's well worth the investment.,
