I desperately need your help with the following two questions:

1. I am making a wedding cake with the bottom and top tiers being made of real cake and the middle two tiers being styrofoam.
If I put dowels in the bottom cake is that going to be enough support to hold the rest of the cake?
If not, is it possible to put dowels into styrofoam?
(The cake is a 12-10-8-6)

2. The florist backed out last minute, so I am now putting the flowers on the cake. If the reception starts at 7pm, is it okay to put the flowers (gerbera daisies) on the cake in the morning? I don't want them to die! What is the best way to attach the flowers to the cake?

Thanks so much...

I would dowel the bottom tier, stack the first dummy, then "glue" the second with buttercream or royal to the first one and add the top tier. I'd drive a dowel down the middle of all of them.

Gerbera's should be okay from the morning but you should put them in flower picks if you are going to insert them in the cake. Wilton makes some so you should be able to buy them from Michaels or the like. HTH
