HI ALL- Question- I'm doing a 3 tier cake (each cake 4") covered in fondant and I was just wondering do I need to long solid dowel through all three cakes if I'm not going anywhere? The party is at my house where I will assemble the cake the day before. If i do need one, any suggestions on how to sharpen the dowel? I don't have a pencil sharpener (I guess I can go buy one if needed) and I don't want to shave the dowel for fear there will be splinters in my cake... Thanks for any help!!!

If you are assembling it where it will stand for the event (and that place is a relatively safe/stable location), as long as you have appropriate supporting dowels, a center dowel isn't necessary
