I am doing a show on Sunday, and I need to do a faux cake to go with my display. Is there a fondant recipe out there to make a fondant that dries really hard? I use the marshmallow fondant all the time, but I don't think it'll be as hard as I'd like. I need something to dry as hard as the Wilton fondant does. Any suggestions?

You could try adding some GumTex to your marshmallow fondant. It should help it to dry faster and harder...HTH!

Gumpaste dries extremely hard. I don't know what size cake you are planning on doing but Wilton has a premade gumpaste that you could use. Here in my area it is $7.00-8.00 per bag. You can also make homemade gumpaste. Here is a link to a recipe.

Hope this helps.

why not just use the wilton fondant, its cheap with a coupon and it doesn't have to taste good on a display cake.
