How High Should A Cake Be

Hi i was wondering if i made a tire cake. What is the height of each cake be. My cake pan is '2 but when i put two together its about 3 instead of 4

Maybe you are not adding enough batter to your cake pans. Try adding more batter.

should each cake be stacked at 4, 5 or 6 inches high

Is your cake rising above or at the same level as your cake? How much are you cutting off to level? Is it a straight pan?

As for heights, I've seen all different sizes and I guess it would depend what look your going for. If you look at the gallery pics you'll see stacked cakes of various sizes, some pretty thin and some really tall. You could always try stacking your pans together and see what size/height you like best.

Serving charts are always based on a 4" tall cake tier.
