Hi I have a request to do a red white and blue wedding cake. I came up with some ideas- most of them ended up looking way too patriotic and not wedding-ish enough. Then, the bride went and threw a bigger wrench in everything and bought a cake topper that looks horrible with ALL of my ideas. The topper is a porcelain bride and groom where the bride is standing with a key and the groom is sitting next to her with a ball and chain around his ankle. The topper is mostly white and pastel looking (of course the grooms tux is black) but the thing is, this doesn't really go with a bold colorful cake! I now think that most of the cake should be white... but the wedding is coming up in a few weeks and I am back to square one. I appreciate any ideas or pictures. PLEASE HELP!!!

Do you have the option to make the cake white and add flowers that are red and blue? Will the bride be willing to go with soft reds and blues? I see you point about it looking more like a 4th of July cake and not a wedding cake.

Maybe you could do some thing with their names in read and blue.

ITA. I donât think there is any way to color the cake red, white and blue and it not look 4th of Julyish. âIâ would do the cake all white then maybe a cascade of pretty light colored red, white and blue flowers down the side.

OR keep the cake all white, then put a blue ribbon around the bottom of each tier and red flowers off to one side of each tier, alternating the side the flowers go on from tier to tier. Sort of kind of like this http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2080/2463446830_3ea3e970f5.jpg&imgrefurl=http://weddingcakephotos.blogspot.com/2008/06/red-creme-de-la-creme.html&h=500&w=334&sz=88&hl=en&start=94&tbnid=Px2j-TBsTkXjzM:&tbnh=130&tbnw=87&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dred,%2Bwhite%2Band%2Bblue%2Bwedding%2Bcake%26start%3D84%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D21%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN

All white with blue/white/red flowers (muted) was the 1st thought I had as well but I also like the idea about the ribbon and the flowers. HTH
