Im doing my first stacked fondant covered wedding cake. I know how to put the dowel rods in place for support BUT what I don't know is do I cover the cakes in fondant first then put in dowel rods? or put in the dowel rods before I cover in fondant? am I making any sense? LOL.

cover the cake first, THEN dowel it. The dowels need to be even with the top of the fondant. If they are not the top cake will sink into the fondant and could possibly cause cracking.

I stack my cakes just like that too.. Remember this too, Add your dowels as soon as you finish putting the fondant on. Dont wait till later. If it dries too much it can crack the fondant too. So is better to do when it still moist..
