Floral Cake Topper? How?

How do you all make the floral cake topper. Do you stick the flowers( I will be using roses) directly into the cake. Or do you stick it on a dome of foam?

I assume you are going to be using real flowers, right? If so you can use the foam as you said, or you can use the flower holder pics from Wilton. I used one on this cake and worked great. I just put a small amount of water in the little vase before I put it in the cake.

Thank you for that. You're cake looks like one I have been wanting to try. I like when there are flowers between each teir.
