I got some new flavorings yeatserday and am dying to make some Key Lime Buttercream Frosting.
But....I am over-thinking what kind of cake to best pair it with.
I think I have narrowed it down to either white chocolate or cheesecake flavored cake. I normally use a doctored cake mix, so really it would just be the flavor of pudding combined with a white cake mix.
Any other suggestions?
I would use a white cake mix with the white chocolate and then replace about half the water with tequila, vodka, or white rum! OMG! That would be FANTASTIC!

how about strawberry cake?
I think the cheesecake flavor would be to die for!
I have grown to love the butter pecan cake. I have bought it and doctored it up. Everyone who tries it loves it. I think it would be good with key lime.
I think that I have decided to do the cheesecake flavored pudding in a white cake mix.
As much as I would LOVE to add tequila to that - I mentioned it to my husband and he is still looking at me funny!
Thanks to all who offered their opinions!
perhaps too late but one of my favorite cakes is a brown butter rum cake with lime filling.
That sounds way too good!!
I may have to try this lime buttercream myself. I love lime. Let me know how it turns out. I think the cheesecake/white mix would be great...or the white chocolate...I'm foolish for white chocolate too!
