I'm going to do these for the first time for an outdoor farmers market this weekend. I initially wanted to do a light raspberrry flavored SMBC, but with the heat I should probably stick to buttercream. Any suggestions on flavors for this cupcake? Would a raspberry or lemon buttercream be overkill on those flavors? What about a basic vanilla?
i think a light lemon or raspberry would work well. i also like coconut. it pairs well with lemon or raspberry.........

I would say a lemon buttercream would be delicious for sure!
You do both flavors in the cake? Never thought of adding a third flavor. When I do raspberry lemonade, I usually do lemon cake with raspberry icing. Or reversed if I want pink cake.
What about a white chocolate?
