Hi all! I'm new here on CC and I really need some help. I'm trying to make a 3D bunny cake but I can't get it to stand up. The cake turns out perfect! But when I frosted it it fell over, I set it back up then the head slid off! I'm trying to make this for my nieces 1st birthday. Help! I've never made a 3D cake before. Is there a special cake recipe that I should use to make it stronger? HELP!!!

Shaleann, I usually use the WASC (white almond sour cream) recipe found here or I use chocolate cake...very stable for making 3d cakes...and also freeze them for a while before u start to sculpt...

I've never done a 3d bunny before so I'm sorry I can't help you there.

Hi Shaleann!

Kivia is right, you need a sturdy cake such as a pound cake or something with pudding in it. Freezing the Wilton 3D cakes helps a LOT in stabilizing the heads. You can also put a food-safe dowel down through the head/neck to help support it.

As for it falling over, you may need to level off the bottom of the cake when it comes out of the pan.

HTH,
Deanna
