Can someone explain to me the construction of the "Slice/Piece of Cake" cake? Do you have to put the slice on a cake board that has been cut to size, or do you put the slice directly on top of the cake? Do you use supports? After cut, do you then frost the insides of the cake and the slice too? I love the look of this cake and really want to try it. I will not be using fondant, only buttercream. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, you fill the slice. Yes, you put in on a cut to fit cake cardboard or foam core and support with straws or dowels just like any stacked cake.

I actually prefer to bake two cakes so I can cut a large "slice" from one cake and still have a larger base cake that I cut a smaller piece from.

Sorry to sound dense, but what do you mean "fill the slice"??? The one on top and how?

thanks so much, by the way, for sharing. icon_smile.gif

The "slice" is the same cake as the bottom tier, so you would treat that part of the cake exactly as you would if you were making a regular 2-tier cake: Torte, add filling, frost.
