Is is possible to color the tips of the petals or do you have to tint the whole thing? I'm very new to fondant and I am looking for ideas.

Sure you can just use a fine paint brush and luster dust or gel colors and allow to dry

Luster dust will give you a shine. If you don't want that, then go with petal dust.
