Good morning all. I've got a question. Has anyone ever made a white or yellow from scratch cake using mayonnaise? I've seen the chocolate mayonnaise cake recipe but not a recipe for white or yellow cake.

Mayo is eggs and oil (with a dab of vinegar) It really is just a shortcut to a regular recipel

Thanks JoannB. Would you use the eggs and oil along with the mayo in the cake recipe or avoid adding them to the recipe?

I have made hundreds of chocolate mayo cakes - it's a family favorite - but I have never thought about making a mayo cake for white or yellow cake. I would think you would just leave out the eggs and oil and substitue the mayo. If you make one, let us know.

You should be able to use a basic chocolate recipe, but leave out the cocoa and add it back in sifted flour.

I have used mayo instead of oil in yellow cakes (never tried a white) but I still add the eggs.

Hope you find what you need!
