I normally decorate the night before...late! I don't want to be rude to my guests. My daughter's birthday is this coming Sunday. I planned to make her birthday cake and 20-25 cupcakes for the party. Now my college roomate and her husband are coming to visit on Saturday and spending the night.

The cake is going to be frosted in bc with fondant accents and a gumpaste bow. I wanted to frost the cupcakes with a whipped cream frosting, but I could also use bc. Could I get away with decorating the cake on Saturday morning for a 3:00pm Sunday party? Should I refrigerate it?

Oh, heck, I decorate cakes on Thursday for a Saturday wedding and they sit on my counter for 2 days!

Do you box them at all? I can never find boxes the right size to fit my cakes. What about the whipped cream frosting? How would whipped chocolate ganache filling hold up?
