Cake Goes Sticky When I Pull It Out Of The Fridge

Hi Everyone,

I seem to be having a problem after ive made my cake... I ice it with pre made icing, then keep it in the fridge, when i pull it out it goes really sticky? should i not put it in the fridge or is there a solution??

pre-made, you mean from a can or fondant? what happens when it gets "sticky?"

Regardless of what kind of icing you're using, stickiness is likely caused by going from "cold" to "warm" and condensation collecting. This often happens when you use fondant but a lot of people just let their cake come to room temp. and the condensation just dries. Make sure you don't touch it while it's damp, especially if you're using fondant. It can leave a mark.

are you using a filling that needs refrigerated or anything? If not, just don't put it in the 'frig. I never put my cakes in the 'frig because the couple of times that I did are the ONLY times I had icing problems! icon_surprised.gif
