can i flavor royal icing after it's done?
I usually add flavoring. I use the alcohol based extracts mostly. I often use regular vanilla, as long as I don't need white/white.
I usually add flavoring while making it. I prefer almond, but am going to try lemon next time.
I use Antonia74's RI recipe and I add 3/4 tsp pure almond extract or clear vanilla towards the end. May play with adding 1/4 tsp more, but happy with the subtle taste now.
lemon juice in place of the water in RI is wonderful. Just don't use lemon oil because it breaks down the icing.
I have tried creme bouquet in my last batch. It was very good. I also put the creme bouquet in my NFSC in place of the vanilla.
