I made the yummy carrot cake from a box mix recipe I found here, made a few changes to the ingredients, and the ingredients price come to $14.00. Got RAVE reviews and several requests as I made it for the teachers at my husbands school. I was going to charge 2x the cost plus $8 for an hour of work.....so $36 for an 8". I am so afraid they won't pay it I I thought about charging only $30 and tell them that is with the 20% teacher discount. I am just starting out please give advice. One teacher told my husband,"Tell your wife to remember we're teachers so we can't afford a lot." I know THAT we live on his salary...barely. TIA

All of us underprice ourselves in the beginning. For an 8" Carrot cake, (box) $30-35 does'nt sound bad at all.
If it was scratch, I would probably charge 35-40.
