I am making a cake with gumpaste butterflies that will be attached to the cakes starting on the bottom left and going up the front of three tiers of cake to the right side.

So what is the best thing to use to attached these securely to the cake so they don't fall off during transport.

Is it a fondant covered cake? if so, royal icing is like cement for gumpaste/fondant.
