Okay there was a picture of a olympic cake with poured sugar as the flames. the ingreds. was

1/2 cup corn syrup
1 cup sugar

and cook until it hits the hard crack stage? My question is when is that stage? What degrees how long etc? Also is this the same kind of sugar you can blow bubbles with or stretch to make things?
