I had fun doing this one! Just wanted to share what I did this weekend. Friends were celebrating their 40th Anniversary.
As I was arranging the cake at my car, one of the people at the party went inside to inform the host that I was losing the cake and someone better help fast!!!! I got a kick out of that one!!!! Guess the effect worked! lol
Pic is in my photos here: http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1249331
I think this cake is adorable. I love this style of topsy-turvy SO much more than the carved type (NOT a fan to begin with, and they are way overdone anyway, so i cringe at the request). I think I might start encouraging this style and phase the other out of my repertoire. Well done!
I love your cake how is this done? I would love to make a cake like this. Please help.
Did you use styrofoam wedges?
Yes, I used styrofoam wedges, attached them to cardboard cut to size, and wrapped them with fancy foil just in case they were too visible through the tulle. Dowels, dowels, dowels! It held up beautifully.
Planning was key - I drew a sketch with dowels noted.
Thanks!
It looks great, I can imaging that person's look of horror, I think that is hilarious.
I would love to try one of these cakes - I just don't think I am ready. When doing these cakes I know there is a lot of planning and practice but if you had to give a couple of important tips what would you say.....
