When I roll out home-made MMF, the side I intended to show on the cake gets tons of tiny air bubbles, making the fondant look like swiss cheese and defeating the purpose. Does anyone know why this is happening/how i can solve it?

Thank you!

I have never tried mmf but with my home made fondant, i usually have this if it is too hard.
While kneading i just put some shortening underneath the fondant and then i knead. Works for me..Also if i spot some when i put in on my cake i just blow it with a needle and gently pressing from both sides i cover it. then i put a little shortening to a clean brush and cover the area. hope this helps.

Are you letting the MMF rest overnight before you use it? The only time I have a problem with bubbles is if I try to use it too soon after I make it.
