I'm just starting my business and I've downloaded some pricing matrixes from here. They are great and I really appreciate the hard work that the authors put into creating them. But, I wondered if any of you just charge by the serving? If so, do you charge the same across the board, or do you charge less for cupcakes or sugar cookies than you do for a cake. I was thinking of charging the same price per serving, but then tacking on an extra decoration fee if I have to do a lot of fondant work on a cake. I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks!

Welcome to Cake Central. Pricing is complicated. (You do have a licensed business, I presume) A per serving basis may work, but you probably need to use something familiar to your customer base.

People sometimes compare prices. it is hard for them if they have to compare apples to shoes.

You could use a price per serving and conver it to the basic cake sizes, so they know what a cake 'costs'
