I have a question...if you absolutely HAVE to add color to the buttercream icing....what is the best route to take? Will it make it watery or anything? Someone give me some advice!!!
it depends on what type of color you are using. Wilton are gels and will not thin down BC. Americolor is a bit more fluid, but still don't really change consistency. Now, the colors in the grocery store that are liquid, yes they will thin down.

The food colorings that you buy at the grocery store are liquid and make your icing loose. I use the wilton icing colors, you can get those at hobby lobby, or michaels, or in the craft section at walmart. They work really well.
