Does anyone have any tips on where to buy Sweetex in or around Houston WITHOUT a dba? I live just outside Houston in between Katy and Sugar Land.

I order my supplies thru a company call DAWN and I believe they are located in Dallas (but deliver ALL over the place) you may be able to find someone who uses them that would be willing to order some for you. I just ordered my first block of sweetex this week and it was about $75 for a 50# cube

You can buy Sweetex from any of our local cake supply shops but you'll hemorrhage money doing it that way. I have yet to find a wholesaler/distributor/supplier of Sweetex in Houston.

BakeMark in Pearland sells cash-and-carry to the public and they have their own rebranded "brown box" of high ratio shortening that I use and love. It's ~ $48 for a 50# cube. They also sell Penguin brand.
