Somebody please tell me when a pound cake looks like when its ready. Recipes always say its done when toothpick comes out clean but when i pull the toothpick out, it has a little bit of the cake on it. It has a little bit of a playdough consistency. Also why it the edges crusting? Please help!!
Pound cake takes quite a while to bake, and does get crusty around the edges. It should have an overall golden brown color.
When you pull out the skewer (I use a longer bamboo bbq skewer rather than a toothpick) it will have small crumbs on it when it's cooked through.
