I've seen a lot of interesting things for sale online, but I'm wondering if they are available in Canada. E.g. butevan. Are there cake supply stores open to the general public -- specifically in Edmonton. I get wilton supplies through Michael's, but I'm also interested in trying some fillings or possibly purchasing fondant. I would also like to get my hands on a leaf veiner (I got the gumpaste flower book and set by Wilton, but it only had the leaf impression thing for the back of the leaf and not the front). I'll have my three little ones with me when I head to the city, so I don't want to have to wander through 10 stores looking for cake supplies.

I understand your pain - I'm in Calgary and am also reliant on Michael's, however I did just disocver that a longtime hobby store here - PM Hobbycraft - carries quite a good selection of items for decorating that Wilton does not. Magic line and fat daddio's pans, huge selection of cut out shapes for your flowers, and yes, leaf veiners. - I THINK they were the double sided ones, I can't recall for certain, but they do have a lot. If you ever get down this way or have familly here, maybe you could get them to pick some things up for you?

Surely there must be something similar in Edmonton?

Good luck!

Hey, I am in Calgary as well. I went to the Cookbook Company on 11th avenue (beltline sw), and found that they sell the gell colours for cakes. They also had quite a few spatulas and other assorted things for cake decorating and baking. They had quite a few unique flavorings as well. The prices were pretty high (except for the spatulas),but the quality was good, icon_sad.gif and no michael's 40 % off.
