how do you get hot pink icing and not pastel pink?

Americolor deep pink gel color is great for this (just make sure it's the deep pink, and not the soft pink).

I have used candy colors pink and it turns out a nice hot pink.

I used paste pink, and added a few drops of the liquid neon pink and a touch of purple the colour turned out very vibrant

I just made this cake for my dd's Sweet 16 last weekend and for the bottom tier I used Wilton Rose color. I bought 2 jars (besides the jar I already had opened) and it didn't take as much color as I thought it would. I still have quite a bit left in the original jar. hth
