I have a recipe for a durable cake but the recipe calls for white/yellow cake and my husband wants chocolate... do you think that I could use the chocolate cake mix instead of the yellow??
Here is the recipe:
1 Duncan Hines Yellow (or White) cake mix
4 egg whites
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 small pkg of instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup sour cream

Here's another doctored recipe that yields a great cake:

And wgoat5 uses cocoa to replace some of the flour, and coffee to replace the water when making chocolate cake....

I use that recipe all the time its in the recipe section under "Darn good chocolate cake", but It calls for 1/2 cup oil and I find that 3 eggs is enough. It is moist and so delicious. It is my most requested cake.
