... flavor after it's already mixed? I tasted it (two days after making) and - ick. It's outlining consistency now, need to thin any way, wondering if I can add a flavor at this point.

Absolutely -- it's gosh awful without it! I add flavoring towards the end of the mixing cycle. I like vanilla and a citrus. (I'm not crazy about almond.)

I love putting almond in my RI but I have been known but use creme boquet and vanilla too.

I use almond or clear vanilla and that works well.
