Lost Thread Revival Of Sculpted Cakes.
Decorating By Sugarflowers Updated 19 Jul 2008 , 5:27pm by 2sdae
Before the crash, there was a thread of someone showing off the cake they had made using Deanna O'Connor's (TooMuchCake) Precious Pets DVD.
It would be great to see the work that those of you have made after getting the DVD. I love this DVD and when I get a chance to make a sculpted cake I'll post it. Until then, can we see what has been done?
Thanks so much,
Michele
Thank you Diane! I was hoping to see the lion again. It was such a bummer to lose the thread.
I'm so glad you had the photo. It looks great!

I had lots of fun with the Precious Pets DVD--it was very inspiring--I had been looking for something to teach me more about carving cakes and she demonstrated that on this project which was on a smaller scale and therefore not over-whelming. She also had a new technique for using buttercream on the animal instead of fondant, which I loved.
By the way, Michele, I've thoroughly enjoyed YOUR video as well--I love your no-nonsense approach to sugar flowers--I particularly enjoyed your way of doing baby's breath and carnations. (And it was exciting to see you on a Food Network special as well! Congrats on that!)
Thank you so much Diane! I'm so glad you like the DVD.
I was still hoping to see some photos from other decorators as well. Deanna's DVD is so helpful and I can only imagine all the great works of carved there are out there. So, please post your pictures!

Is the precious pets dvd the only one available?I would love to how to on carved cakes. And where can I order the precious pets dvd?
Thanks,Stephanie
A description of the lesson is in the link Diane provided. To order, you'll be redirected to my distributor, Lick The Spoon Productions. Just didn't want anyone to be surprised when they find themselves on the other website.
Thanks, everyone!!
Deanna
I have both videos as well and I am entering one of the carved cakes in butter cream comp at our fair this year. I'll be sure to post it when it's done!
It's a twist on your video techniques with some surprises....
I cant' wait to see it! Good luck!
Michele
