I am making my first wedding cake next weekend and still have one more question. I have looked into the SPS system but have decided to do the following...

The bottom tier is 16" , middle is 12", and top is 8". How many dowels (I am using the platic ones that are 3/8" diameter) do I need to put between the bottom and middle layers for support ? And then the middle and top layers? This is a stacked cake and I am planning to run a wooden dowel down throught he center of the whole thing once totally assembled for stability.

TIA

MN

i would go with atleast five on the bottom tier and then four on the middle...

thats only bc you are already running one down he middle...

but if you feel like its not sturdy enough (depends really on your cake itself) then add an extra on to the bottom tier...

i would also recommend using foamcore inbetween each layer instead of the cardboard cake board, it gives it more stablility overall... and doesnt get flimsy at all.
