No you can't b/c egg sizes are determined by weight. Large eggs weigh 2.0 oz. and XL eggs weigh 2.25 oz. So you would be short 1.5 oz. of egg if you did that. Use a scale if you have one. I hope this helps you.

U.S. Standards, Grades, and Weight classes for Shell Eggs:

12 Jumbo = 30 oz.
12 XLg = 27 oz.
12 Lg = 24 oz.
12 Med = 21 oz.
12 Small = 18 oz.
12 PeeWee = 15 oz.

Weight requirements (which can vary by state):

Jumbo egg: 2.417 oz. or 68.522 grams
XLarge egg: 2.167 oz. or 61.434 grams
Large egg: 1.917 oz. or 54.347 grams
Med. egg: 1.667 oz. or 47.259 grams
Small egg: 1.417 oz. or 40.172 grams
Pee Wee egg <1.417 oz. or < 40.172 grams
