as long as you let in crust well, like overnight, most ribbons will be fine

How do you back your ribbon with wax paper? How does it stick? I am having this issue right now with the grease from the buttercream spotting the ribbon. I even left it to crust up and it is still spotting the ribbon.

HELP!
