I am a total beginner at this cake thing. I've only done cakes for my daughters' birthdays. I've offered to make the cake for my Dad's anniversary party. It will be the biggest cake I've made, and the first time it's for non-family as well. Yikes!

Their wedding color was light blue. The cake will be simple - either scrolls or dots. Should I do white decoration on a blue cake? Or blue decoration on white cake? I know this may be personal preference, but wondered if anyone had any advice on which looks better. I want it to look elegant, and am concerned the light blue will make it look like a baby shower.

Thanks for your help! You are all an inspiration!

Ice in white with light blue scrolls. I agree, if iced in blue it might look baby shower-ish... Good Luck!
