I want to make popcorn for a cake but don't have any marshmallows on hand and am being lazy...Don't wanna go to the store and don't feel like trying to make them out of fondant. I read in a post on CC that someone used real popcorn then glazed it with a sugar syrup. I wonder how to do this without making the popcorn soggy. icon_confused.gif

by the time the sugar reaches the proper temp -- no water left to make anything soggy...

HOWEVER ---

at that temp ---

it will BURN the he** out of you if you spill any on you -- we're talking 2nd degree burns!

so...

be careful

and it helps to have big heat proof bowl (do NOT do it in plastic!!!) and coat both the bowl and spatula (tho' I prefer wooden spoon) generously in butter or shortening

it's the same as making any kind of caramelized corn.

edited to fix the typo that was pointed out in the post below. --- once again proving I can't spell or type all that well!

You can also melt white candy melts and stir it into the popped popcorn. It is really good!

You can cover popcorn very easily with white almond bark or white chocolate or white chocolate chips what ever you have on hand. Just have your popcorn in a large tub or I like a plastic bag and shake until covered. It is fabulous!!!
