I'm thinking it does because of the heavy cream, but wasn't sure. I really need to find a good filling for a chocolate cake and I thought cookies and cream would be good for a bunch of teenagers (my dd's Sweet 16 party). If this one isn't shelf stable, anyone have a good one that is? Thanks!

Yes, I am afraid that one needs refrigeration. I make a shelf-stable cookies and cream filling starting with my favorite buttercream (real butter and real vanilla extract, so it's not pure white, but it tastes good). I then add crushed cookies. Usually, I use Trader Joe's JoeJoes, sometimes the mint ones (around Chrismas).
