Hi,
I got a request for a few giant cookies, with an edible image on top. I have never made the giant cookie before. I have a few questions..

Do you think I can do Chocolate chip w/ the edible image?

Should I use buttercream underneath, or fondant? Or both..

Do you think it will look bumpy from the chips??

How long do I bake it? I also need a good chocolate chip recipe!!

What would I charge for a 12" round cookie, with either fondant or buttercream?

Does anyone have a picture of a giant choclate chip cookie w/ an edible image??

Thanks in advance!!
JoAnn

I've never done an edible image, but I have had to do the big cookies to look like cake (i.e. smooth) and buttercream or fondant or both will level off the cookie just fine I would imagine. (I can get it smooth enough with BC to look like a cake)

I always use the Nestle Toll House recipe if I am doing plain chocolate chip, though I use butter flavor shortening for half and butter for half.

Bake time depends on your oven, the pan size and depth of the cookie dough. My 14 inch pan (1 inch sides) usually bakes in about 18-22 minutes, even in my crappy oven. Might be worth it to make a practice cookie first to test your bake time too.
