Alrighty!! Calling all Russian/Ukrainians!!!

I am currently working with a couple that would very much like to have a Kiev cake or Kyiv Cake as the base of thier wedding cake. Unfortunately, I have no idea what this is or how to make it... I'm told it's got " a large layer of biscuit with hazelnuts and caramel-like filling" . Anyone have a recipe or directions or any suggestions...???

Thanks guys.. you're the best!!!

I have never heard of this, but I did find this because I am curious about this too:

It only makes 8 servings though.

I hope this helps and that you keep us posted!

Oh, you know what, as Ukrainian as my family is (born here in US) I've never heard of it, but I did look it up. I found only 1 recipe which is similar to what you describe, but it doesn't look like a typical, decorated wedding cake.

Here's the link, which I got from e-Gullet:

I suggest you make a practice or taster cake and offer it to your clients, or e-mail them the picture from the site and ask them if that is what it looks like.

There are thousands of Ukrainians in Canada, so why not try asking at one of the churches?

I will call the Reverend at my family's church and ask him if he is familiar with it, and where I might find a recipe. If I am successful, I will let you know.
