....other than raspberry, blueberry and strawberry fillings, what other flavor goes with a lemon cake? What new combo have you come up with?

Coconut! (Not new, but yummy!)
Other tropical fruits too...mango, lime, guava, passionfruit etc.
I like almond (marzipan) and lemon as well.
Currant
Cranberry (in the fall/winter)


Poppy seed would be fantastic too! Mmm..kifli filling in a cake! Gotta do that! Thx Doug!

pistachio?

(have seen several recipes for pistachio+apricot filling)

cherry?

lime?

orange?

chocolate? (isn't it the food version of "black" in fashion -- it goes w/ everything!?!)

lemon cake (or lemon-poppyseed) with raspberry filling is one of my bestsellers. Cover that with a dark chocolate ganache and you'll think you're in heaven.
