I am going to be making a cake for 35-40 people. They want it to look similar to the hibiscus cake I did for my sister. I have been wanting to do a stacked/tiered cake for a while and this is my opportunity. My question is what sizes do I need to make? Also should I use a plate set or will dowels and cake boards be ok? I was thinking a 10 an 6 inch . I am excited about this!

wilton.com has a really helpful chart for cake sizes, servings, batter amounts, etc. you should check that out.

10 and 6 will give you 50 servings where a 9 and 6 will give you 44 icon_smile.gif

You can get away with dowells and cake boards.. make sure you have the dowells all cut the same size...

when you might want to invest in a more stable system.. like the SPS (single plate system) icon_smile.gif
