Over the years I have accumulated a few cake pans. Storing them in boxes just isn't working any more. Takes too long to find the right pan or you can only fit a couple of pans.
Does anyone have any ideas on storage? How do you handle the ever growing cake pans?
I also have a ton of pans. More then I need, but at the same time not enough...lol what i do is use clear rubbermaid containers. I attach a list on the outside, so all i have to do is read the paper to find what i need. I always just make sure i put it back where i got it. I also do this for my candy molds too.
Me too! I'm fortunate enough to have a large insulated storage shed outside just for cake, cookie, candy and all that involved in decorating supplies. I am in the midst of hanging peg boards to hang the candy molds from so that they do not warp. I have boxes clearly marked and shelving for to keep things off the ground.
When we purchased our home (previously a 10-acre horse ranch) there were lost of outbuildings. One was insulated and used like an old root cellar. I nabbed that one for "my" stuff!! hehehehe
I am jealous of your shed! I am in the process of cleaning out a two door storage cabinet that is about 6 feet tall and 4 ft wide for all the pans that I am starting to accumulate. I have two storage cases, like a tackle box that I use, one for fondant cutters, etc and one for tips, bags, colors, etc. I also have one cupboard in my kitchen for cookie cutters, cans of meringue powder, etc. but it is running out of room in there, so some of it will end up being moved to the storage cabinet.
I have my pans and molds in clear storage tubs. On the outside end of each one I have a polaroid picture of the pans that are inside. All my tubs are on shelves we had build into one wall in my garage.
I have a large laundry room and I had DH install some wire shelving for all of my pans. I have my chocolate molds in a large deep drawer in my kitchen. I do however need to figure out a way to store all my tips, they're forever roaming aroung all over the place.
I thought that I was the only one with this problem had to build a storage building. I use the gold hooks to hang them on the wall. If the pans do not have a hole so that I can hang them, I use my drill and presto, a hole is added. As for the tips; I built a 12"x16" storage box out of plywood and used 1x2 with pegs to hold my tips and couplers. Now all my tips, couplers, nails and bags are together . As you can see, I am a do it yourself person. [/i]
