Ok so almost two weeks ago I did a wedding cake as well as a groom's cake for a couple. I had them sign a contract stating that there is a 50$ deposit for both of my cake boards and when those cake boards are returned, they will get their 50$ back ... of course, I wasn't smart enough to put a time limit on this so now I am thinking I should e mail the bride and remind her about the deposit, but I'm not sure how to word this e mail so it doesn't sound like I'm nagging but just gently reminding them ... any help with wording on this? Thanks ...

simple is better.

Welcome to the world of married life!

Just a reminder, I have your cake board deposit ready to refund. If there is something I can do to help get those boards back to me, just let me know.

Thanks.

I got a deposit reminder once that was so cute, and a great idea. Maybe.........

I have something that belongs to you!

I would love to return your $50 deposit, would you be so kind as to return my cake plates? I will be available all day Friday.

or something like that.
