I'm in need of helping making some whimsical butterflies for my neices birthday cake. She wants some little cakes with butterflies all over them.

I've seen where some have made them with patchwork cutters??? Where can I get these.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make them cute/character looking?

Thanks in advance......Kelly

I made butterflies on the Tinkerbell cake I made for my daughter. I made them 50/50 mix gumpaste and fondant, cut out the shape with a cookie cutter, placed it in a flower former and then added on to it. When you place in the flower former you can have some hanging over the edge to give some dimension, or twist it a little to give some movement. Here is the link.

Hope that helps you!!

Your cake is beautiful ! Where did you get the cutter for that's neat. ! I can only find the plain shaped ones.

Can you PM with exact directions on the butterflies.

Thanks again. !
